My name is Josh McCormick and I have been involved in music most of my life. I began taking piano lessons at the age of 9 and continued throughout my first year in college. I have been playing percussion for nearly 15 years and absolutely love what I do as a percussionist and teacher! I attended the University of Northern Colorado where I obtained a Bachelors degree in Music Education and also a 2nd Bachelors degree in Music Performance. I continued my studies at the University of Illinois where I recently graduated with my Masters Degree in Music Performance.
I am Orff Level I certified from the San Fransisco School and combine both the Orff Approach and Kodaly Method into my teaching.
I have had the fortunate opportunity to study full-time under several world-class musicians and educators. I feel that I bring a lot of knowledge and experience to my students and am so thankful that I have the daily opportunity to share this with your child.
I currently play percussion in the Colorado Wind Ensemble and also play drums with my church at Northern Hills Christian Church. I enjoy spending time with my wife Alicia, who is also a music teacher in our district! I also enjoy camping, hiking, woodworking, playing board games and watching the newest episode of Medium or The Office. Some of my favorite musical artists are Jeremy Camp, Sara Groves, and Phil Wickham.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my life of music and trust that my students will also share in the rewards, accomplishments, and joys of a life rich in music and the creative arts.
